Anna crouched in silence, her full attention given to the young lovers basking in the moonlight mere yards from her position in the shadows. At this distance she could not quite make out the words the man was speaking to the woman, but she didn't have to hear them to know exactly what he was saying. His voice was as sweet and pure as honey to the ears of his intended... and only Anna knew that beneath the warmth of his voice was a dead heart of ice.

"Very soon, he will make his move." she thought to herself, as the man's voice dropped to a whisper, his body moving closer to his unwitting victim. She remembed being in a similar position many years ago, and then only the quick actions of her Father had saved her. One moment his lips were mere inches from her quivering neck and the next, his screams echoed through the night as the spell cast by her Father hit him full force, flinging him away from her and dissolving the dead skin from his face. It was only then that she noticed the elongated canines that had be ready to rend her throat. Her father was long gone of course, but her promise to repay his actions remained, and tonight was the night.

Even deep in reflection, her attention was quickly turned back to the present at the sound of a small gasp. Her cover forgotten, Anna leapt to her feet, thrusting herself at headlong speed towards the embraced couple. A minor spell leapt from her outstretched hand, barely missing the woman and knocking the man flat on his back. Before he even had the chance to recover, she was on him with catlike grace, pinning him flat again, one hand on his throat and the other poised above his heart only for an instant before ramming a silver spike deep into his chest. His eyes reflected recognition and hatred of her even as they dimmed and went out, his evil soul winging it's way to hell before he had ever realized what had hit him.

Rising from the now lifeless corpse, Anna rounded on the woman. "Your name! What it is?" The woman stared at her open mouthed in reply, still in deep shock over the events that had just occured. Not one for waiting, Anna none to politely slapped the woman, bringing her back to the here and now. "YOUR NAME!?" she repeated. "I... I.... Nai...." the woman replied. "Nai? Nai? Whatever. Show me your neck!" Anna said. "Did he bite you?" Not waiting for an answer, she grabbed the woman, moving her head roughly from one side to the other to check for puncture marks, then breathing a great sigh of relief when she did not find them.

"Listen to me.... Nai is it? That thing was a vampire. Dead now of course. You cannot.. be out... at night. It isn't safe. Sex is fine and all that, but keep it in the daylight. Do you understand? Yes? Good. Next time, I will kill you first and check for marks later." Anna rose to her feet, instinctively choosing the next direction her path would take. "Go home now woman, and thank whatever Gods you worship that you were spared this night." And with that, she strode back into the darkness.

Finally coming around, the woman spoke to her rescuer's parting shadow. "Thank you Necromancer.. but my name is Naomi!"
